Well well well, look what I found! The coolest little vintage shop in Madison. I’ve been going through withdrawals without having Melrose’s Trading Post around the corner anymore. Retro Revolution is the cutest little shop with way too many vintage items. I had to be strong not to bring something home with me. Obviously the cameras had my heart the minute I stepped in. The typewriters, oh the typewriters. Wish I could take them all home. If you are local, you don’t wanna miss this spot! The prices were incredible too. I hesitated sharing this with you all since it seems like a good secret store to have HA! But since I’m not selfish I had to tell you. Have you been to Retro Revolution? What’s your favorite vintage shop?

Ladies and gents I present to you the most delicious & adorable cupcakes EVER! No, I didn’t bake these (I’m not that talented) these were baked by none-other than Gigi’s cupcakes! Ever since trying them for the first time when we moved to Madison, I’ve been hooked. It also helps that they’re the nicest people whenever we stop by. They just launched their Summer menu this week which runs until the end of August. That means you have a few months to enjoy a Cotton Candy, Bubble Gum, Margarita or Pink Lemonade cupcake! Say what? I was more than thrilled to feature them and show them some love. I mean, look at them! The mini cupcakes are the cutest thing I’ve ever eaten HA! It’s hard to pick a favorite. Their most popular flavors, which they have year-round, are Wedding Cake, Red velvet (of course) & White Midnight Magic – for all those chocolate lovers out there! (like me). If your mouth is watering, simply look up a Gigi’s near you and thank me later! Have you been to Gigi’s cupcakes? What’s your favorite flavor? Happy Summer loves!

Just like we did for Mother’s day I figured, why not create Father’s day {free} printables for those who need a gift for that special guy in their life? I’ll be honest, we totally thought father’s day was last Sunday. To the point that after having our special “father’s day pancake breakfast” the mister called his dad to wish him happy Father’s Day just to have him laugh at us and tell us it was next Sunday. We were about to call my dad next HA! Not sure how that happened but we’ve been laughing about it daily and now I may or may not have to go get more bananas + pecans for the second round of pancakes HA! Anyhow, hope you have a lovely Sunday friends! Remember, just download, print and frame. I’m sure there are some dads out there that will appreciate some watercolor prints HA! What do you think?

I must confess, this is my favorite kind of pie. I absolutely love how easy it is to make at home. This key lime pie recipe uses only 5 ingredients! How awesome is that? Plus it takes no time to put together. I even made a little video for fun to show you. So grab a cup of coffee, sit back and enjoy the show.
Key Lime Pie
14 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk
9″ graham cracker pie crust
1/2 cup fresh lime juice
2 eggs (separate your yolks & whites)
Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. Separate your egg yolks and place whites in a large bowl and set aside for later. In a blender mix your milk, egg yolks and lime juice. Blend until smooth. Pour filling into pie crust and bake at 350º for 15 minutes. Once pie is ready, let it cool for about 10 minutes then place it in the fridge. Refrigerate your pie for an hour or so. Just before serving, it’s time for you meringue! Beat the egg whites with an electric mixer on medium speed until soft. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar one by one until combined (Add a splash of vanilla extract if you wish too). Decorate your pie with your meringue and garnish with pretty lime slices. That’s it! This pie is great for a summer party or any party for that matter HA! What’s your favorite pie? Will you give this one a shot? Happy baking loves!

Ladies and gents I present to you one of my favorite posts in a long time. I wanted to celebrate the arrival of the new season, warmer nights & great new friends with a little backyard ladies night!!! I decided I was going to make it special since it was my very first ladies night hosted in our backyard and new city. I even mailed out invites! Snail mail has taken over me this year and I’m loving it. I invited some of my fave girls in town and the night turned out exactly like I envisioned it in my head. I decided to keep it small to be able to tackle all the main things before hand and be able to enjoy the party from the get go. I planned food that would let me be a party goer instead of being just the party host. Best idea ever!
The menu consisted of watermelon feta appetizers (which were a BIG hit), Caprese and turkey pesto sandwiches, a simple pasta salad and of course my favorite part, a fun little dessert corner! Which included macaroons (from Trader Joe’s – my fave), some yummy cookies & lemon poppy seed cake. We sipped on wine and laughed the night away.
Hosting a backyard party doesn’t have to be stressful. I wanted a fun laid back theme and was able to accomplish just that by keeping everything handy during the night. One thing I loved was using notepads as placeholders + party favors. These were such a small little detail but were such a big hit. All the girls were in shock when they noticed them & loved the fact they were going to be able to bring them home. I loved surprising my guests with this. As far as decorations go I used things I already had around the house (ex. vintage plates, metal bin for drinks, mini chalkboards, etc) By keeping the guest list small there wasn’t a lot of work to do but to kick back , relax and have an awesome time! What do you think? Do you like hosting ladies night’s too? I absolutely love it and cannot wait for the next one! Oh and guess what? I’ve got a surprise for you, I made a video of the whole thing! Take a look below. Happy summer loves!
